  Learning Through Art at The Guggenheim!

     A Program of the Gail May Engelberg Center for Arts Education Learning Through Art (LTA) is the Guggenheim’s hallmark artist-in-residency program. The program sends experienced teaching artists into New York City public schools where they collaborate with classroom teachers to develop, facilitate, and integrate art projects into the school curriculum. During the twenty-week, in-school residencies, students throughout the five boroughs examine, discuss, and create works of art. Visits to the Guggenheim support the residencies, offering new insights into art and challenging students to think critically about art and ideas. At the end of the residency, selected student works are presented in the annual A Year with Children exhibition held at the Guggenheim Museum. LTA was founded in 1970 by Natalie K. Lieberman in response to the elimination of art and music programs from New York City public schools.   Art After School at The Guggenheim!

     Does your child love to explore and create art? Then sign up for our after-school program! Your child will experience the museum’s spectacular space, collections, and special exhibitions. Each session features a gallery visit that will serve as inspiration for in-depth art projects in the studio. Your emerging artist will learn about a wide range of techniques, including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, collage, and photography. Tuition assistance is available.   Acting and Musical Theatre for Children and Teens! THE NHAOPA DIFFERENCE: At NHAOPA we believe theatre is best taught as an organic experience! ?For this reason we offer production based classes that are 100% interactive and hands on. From day one all students begin to work on actings skits or musical theater numbers that will be showcased in our upcoming cabarets . Learn by doing is our motto! Students will work on skit/song memorization, lyric interpretation, and how to connect to the message of their piece. Voice training topics such as diction and projection will help the students learn how to use their voice in an effective and healthy way to communicate . Students will also experience Choreography and "Blockography" which help them move effectively on stage. In addition to that, students will learn basic theatre lingo such as "downstage", "upstage" "wings, "move on one" etc by using them during the rehearsal period. One of the greatest things student gain from this training is getting past STAGE FRIGHT. Students who are shy will benefit tremendously from this program by using all the skills mentioned before in a "TEAM" setting. Our approach to theatrical training is very Interactive and hands on. Students will be challenged to use brain skills, vocal skills, and motor skills all while using a team approach to create a memorable experience for all!? (less) ... Read more
